Living in Mexico

Mexico lies between the United States, Guatemala and Belize, bordering the Pacific to the west and south, and the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean to the east. Around 126.2 million people live in the country. Deserts and dry high plateaus in the north, tropical forests in the south, long coastlines and volcanoes shape the landscape. The climate ranges from hot and dry to humid and tropical; temperatures are milder at higher elevations. Many people live in densely populated cities, use buses, the metro or cars, and work in trade, services, industry or agriculture. In smaller communities, distances are often longer, homes more spacious and personal networks more important. Many people associate leisure time with family, food, music, sport and local festivals.
