Living in Lebanon
Lebanon lies on the eastern Mediterranean coast between Syria and Israel and has around 6.8 million inhabitants. A narrow coastal plain, the densely populated area around Beirut, the forested and partly snow-covered Lebanon Mountains, and the fertile Bekaa Valley shape the landscape. The climate is Mediterranean: winters on the coast are mild and rainy, summers hot and dry, while it is considerably cooler in the mountains. Many people live in apartments or houses in cities and suburbs, while others live in smaller mountain and village communities. Everyday life combines family visits, shared meals, and cafés with work in trade, services, industry, or agriculture; people often travel by car, taxi, and minibus.
