Law in Kosovo sets the rules for relationships between people, organizations and public authorities. Labor law

A short stay normally lasts no more than 90 days in any 180-day period, while longer stays require the relevant residence permit or another lawful status. The responsible bodies include diplomatic missions, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Public Administration, the Department for Naturalization, Asylum and Migration, the Employment Agency and the Border Police. Law No. 06/L-034 On Consumer Protection provides the general framework, while specialist bodies handle sectors such as finance, communications, energy, water, food and medicines.

Civil law in Kosovo governs legal relationships between private people and organizations, including persons, contracts, property, family, inheritance, liability, court proceedings and enforcement. National rules apply across Kosovo, while municipal offices handle many registrations, social-work services and property procedures. Depending on the matter, the process may involve a civil-status office, notary, municipality, mediator, court or enforcement agent.
