Living in Kenya

Kenya lies in East Africa along the Equator and the Indian Ocean, with around 51.4 million people. The country encompasses tropical coasts, fertile highlands, vast savannas, and dry areas in the north and east. The coast is hot and humid, while the higher-altitude regions are generally milder. Daily life differs considerably between urban and rural areas: in Nairobi and Mombasa, many people live in different residential neighborhoods and get around by bus, matatu, or motorcycle taxi. In rural areas, agriculture, livestock farming, and local markets shape daily life; in cities, services, trade, and industry are important. Families, neighborhoods, sports, and music bring many people together in their free time.
