Living in Jamaica

Jamaica is an island nation in the Caribbean, south of Cuba, with around 2.9 million people. The country is characterized by forested mountains, fertile valleys, and coastlines with coral reefs. The tropical climate brings warm temperatures year-round; the northern and eastern sides usually receive more rain, while the south is drier. Many people live in cities such as Kingston, Spanish Town, or Montego Bay, while others live in smaller communities and rural areas. Family, music, sports, and shared meals play an important role in everyday life. Buses, taxis, and private cars connect the different places, though distances and road conditions vary. Jobs are found especially in services, trade, agriculture, and tourism.
