Study in Iran

Higher education in Iran includes universities and specialized institutions offering undergraduate and postgraduate study. The Persian word dāneshgāh means university, and dāneshju means student. Institutions may be public, non-public, or connected to particular educational networks or sectors. Their admission routes, academic focus, costs, and recognition can differ. Admission commonly considers completion of secondary education and the requirements of the chosen program. Competitive entrance selection is strongly associated with the term Konkur, although not every applicant or program follows exactly the same route. Degree study usually combines lectures, assigned reading, examinations, and practical or research work. Laboratory, clinical, artistic, or technical programs may require substantial supervised activity. Persian is the main language of instruction in much of higher education. Some materials or courses may use another language, especially in advanced fields, but administrative life often remains Persian-based. A degree title alone does not show the complete value of a program. Recognition, curriculum, teaching quality, facilities, professional relevance, and opportunities for practice all matter. Student life can include libraries, laboratories, student organizations, housing, transport, and academic advising. Availability and quality differ between institutions and locations. International or returning students may need reviews of identity, prior qualifications, translations, and study eligibility. Anyone hoping to use an Iranian degree elsewhere should investigate recognition with the future receiving institution before enrolling.
