Living in Iran

Iran is located in Western Asia between the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf and has around 81.8 million people. The country encompasses extensive high plateaus, the Elburz and Zagros mountains, as well as fertile plains and coasts. In the north, the climate around the Caspian Sea is more humid, while the interior is mostly dry; in the south, summers are very hot, and winters are cold in the mountains. Many people live in cities, in apartments or houses with courtyards. In Tehran and other major cities, cars, buses and the metro shape daily life; in rural areas, distances and public transport are more important. Work, agriculture, trade and services vary greatly by region; family visits, shared meals and outings are part of leisure time in many places.
