Living in Honduras

Honduras lies in Central America between Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua, bordering the Caribbean Sea to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. Around 9.6 million people live there. Mountains, forests, rivers and coastlines shape the country; the Caribbean coast is generally hot and humid, while the highlands are milder and the Pacific coast drier. Many people live in cities such as Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, while others live in rural communities or along the coast. In daily life, they travel by bus, motorcycle or on foot, work in areas such as trade, agriculture, industry or services, and spend their free time with family, music and shared meals. Living conditions differ considerably between the capital, coastal regions and remote mountain villages.
