Elections in Fiji

Fiji elects 55 members of its unicameral Parliament in one nationwide multi-member constituency using open-list proportional representation. Each voter marks exactly one candidate number, and the Electoral Commission allocates seats with the D’Hondt method after applying a 5% threshold. Voting requires registration and takes place at assigned venues, with pre-poll and postal options for defined circumstances. The President issues the writ on the Prime Minister’s advice, so the general election has no fixed polling date within the four-year parliamentary term.
