Nature in Ethiopia

Ethiopia contains nine ecosystems, from afroalpine environments and montane forests to savannas, wetlands, deserts and semi-deserts. Its landscapes range from about 116 metres below sea level to 4,620 metres above sea level across the Highlands, Rift Valley, Southwestern Lowlands and Eastern Arid Areas. Wildlife protection combines federal authorities, regional governments, park offices and community participation.
