Living in Estonia

Estonia is located in northern Europe on the Baltic Sea and has around 1.3 million people. Forests, bogs, lakes, and numerous islands shape the landscape. The climate is cool and changeable: summers are usually mild, while winters inland are significantly colder than on the coast. In Tallinn, many people live in apartments and work in services, technology, or administration; outside the capital, detached houses, smaller towns, and rural work are more common. Buses and trains connect the larger cities, while in rural areas a car is often practical. In their free time, people often go to the forest, the seaside, the sauna, or cultural events. The east is more industrial, the south hillier, and the islands quieter.
