Employer in China

An employer in China is the organization that legally hires, manages, and pays employees. It is commonly called a 用人单位, or yongren danwei. The legal employer may be different from a brand, worksite, client, recruiter, or manager seen in daily work.

Tip

When dealing with an employer in China, identify the exact legal entity before accepting promises or sending sensitive documents. Judge the employer by the consistency of its contract, payroll, management, and records. A clear organization should be able to explain who is responsible for each step.
