Living in Cabo Verde

Cabo Verde lies off the West African coast in the Atlantic and consists of several volcanic islands. Around 543,767 people live there. Rugged mountains, dry slopes, and long coastlines shape the landscape. The climate is generally warm and dry, but the mountainous islands receive more rain; Sal and Boa Vista are flatter, windier, and especially dry. Many people live in simple to modern homes in towns or villages. In Praia and Mindelo, services, trade, and port life shape everyday life; on other islands, fishing, agriculture, and tourism also play a role. Aluguers, buses, ferries, and domestic flights connect the places. Music, football, and social gatherings are part of leisure time in many areas.
