Living in Bolivia
Bolivia lies in the heart of South America and stretches from the Andes to the Amazon Basin and the Gran Chaco; around 11.4 million people live there. The highlands are characterized by vast plains, snow-capped peaks, and a cool, dry climate, while the valleys are milder and the eastern lowlands warm and often humid. In La Paz and El Alto, many people live in densely built-up neighborhoods and use minibuses or cable cars; in smaller towns, distances are often longer and public transport simpler. People work, among other sectors, in trade, agriculture, mining, and services. Markets, family visits, soccer, and festivals are common leisure activities in many places, though their forms vary by region.
