Living in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina lies in the western Balkans and has around 3.3 million people. The country stretches from the river valleys of the Sava and Bosna across the forested Dinaric Mountains to a short stretch of coastline on the Adriatic. Inland, the climate is predominantly continental, with warm summers and cold winters, while the south is more Mediterranean and drier. Many people live in cities such as Sarajevo, Banja Luka or Mostar, while others live in smaller towns and villages. In everyday life, family, neighborhood, and shared meals play an important role. People travel to work by car, bus, or on foot; they work, among other sectors, in services, industry, agriculture, and trade. Cafés, sports, and trips into nature are popular leisure activities in many places.
