Religion in Benin

Christianity, Islam, and the Vodun traditional religion (Vodun) shape religious life in Benin. The Constitution protects freedom of belief, conscience, and religion; Benin has no state religion and is organized around state secularism (laïcité). Holidays, worship, religious education, dialogue, and marriage and death rituals follow different state and community rules.
