Traditions in Bahamas

Traditions in the Bahamas are carried through community festivals, family knowledge, music, dance, food, clothing and crafts. Junkanoo is the most visible national tradition, with major parades on Boxing Day, 26 December, and New Year's Day, 1 January. Regional practices such as Rake 'n' Scrape, quadrille, straw work, bush medicine and Androsia show why customs differ among the islands.
