Nature in Angola

Angola combines an Atlantic coast, the Namib Desert, dry savannas, the western Angolan escarpment (Escarpa), central highlands, Miombo forests, and the headwaters of the Okavango and Zambezi systems. Protected areas preserve rare species such as the giant sable antelope (Palanca Negra Gigante), Welwitschia mirabilis, and gorillas in the Mayombe Forest. Nature in Angola is also used for water, grazing, fishing, forest products, and nature tourism, creating conflicts and conservation responsibilities.
