Living in Angola

Angola lies on the Atlantic coast in southwestern Africa and has around 30.8 million people. The country stretches from dry coastal plains through fertile highlands to vast savannas in the east and south. The coast is usually warm and partly dry, while the highlands have cooler nights and pronounced rainy seasons. Daily life differs greatly between Luanda, other cities and rural regions. Many people live in densely built-up urban neighbourhoods, travel by bus, taxi or motorcycle, and work in trade, services, agriculture or raw-material sectors. In rural areas, fields, markets and family communities shape the daily routine; leisure time is often spent with family, music and football.
